Something Different

So aside from needle felting I enjoy quilting. Well, we've been remodeling our house for the last 7 years. Thankfully we are nearing completion. Anyway, there is a spot right in the middle of the wall in the master bedroom for access to the attic. So I decided we needed a piece of art to cover the area which is 24 x 36 inches. Here is what I came up with. I took 3 pieces of 1/2 yard fabric and cut them into 6 inches squares, mixed them up and sewed them together, then added batting and backing fabric and quilted. Placed it into a 24x36 inch frame and voila! We have access cover. Hope you like it. Oh and I will also do quilt commissions.

Here's what he looked like a few weeks ago.
And here is what he looks like now.
He will be getting his mane and tail soon.
Next will be the addition of ears, eyes and facial features.

Meet Mack in progress

So, here I am. My name is Mack. I've gotten my tail, a bit of nose and a bit of color. I still have a ways to go but I think I'm starting to look more and more like a Whippet. I'll be making my way to Canada with Houdini and Emmy sometime in the new year. I'm thinking a new coat will be in order cause I heard that the winters get pretty cold in Canada. Enough of my rambling..

Oh yeah, I forgot to add that Houdini finally got his ears on..But it don't mean he can hear any better..Love ya Bro.

Hi mom!!

Black Whippet

Of course this whippet is along way from being done. This is the first time I have not used a core wool..This leetle gal is black all the way through. The toughtest part will be the eyes against the black wool. Thanks to Annie of Wild About Whippets for letting me use pics of her beautful black dog Zinfy.

Houdini in progress

Here I am in progress. Mom had been adding my coloring and brindling, plus my eyes have been set. Notice I don't have any ears yet..Gees she's slow. I do believe I'm coming along nicely. I'm in what's called a "down dog" pose in Yoga, or what is also called the "play bow" pose.
Thanks for looking and do feel free to post a comment or two.

More works in progress

Here are soon to be Mack, Houdini and Emmy. Each is a needle felted dog in varying poses. The standing one is 7" tall , the seated one is 6" tall and the last one is about 7" long. Each one takes hours of poking with a barbed needle. At this stage they are still many hours away from completion. Although, one of them is now getting some coloring and sample eyes. When the are finished they will make their journy home to Canada.

BTW, if you are intested , scroll down to the bottom of the page and view our websites "Needle felting by Geri and me" and "Quilts by Vee". All items are custom made by us. Feel free to ask about pricing and available for a custom made item for you or someone else.

And last but not least, my dear sweet boy Nearly

Well, it's about time. Here I am the mostest loveable whippet you will ever meet. I came to Tacoma all the way from Paducah, Kentucky. My momma put me on the plane under her seat. She says I am the noisest pup she has ever owned..I should know, as my Nanna Pee says I come by it honestly.. My dad says I sound like a '47 Chevy startin' up, humm, whatever does he mean.

I'm all of 15 months old now. I hang out with my big bros Skeezix and Buster. I love to torment them. Some of my favorite toys ar Fartin' Earl, Henrietta and some orange squeaky thing with ears.

More later,

Love Nearly

A work in progress

So here it is, my first horse..I've only been working on it for three months. It's grown to 10" tall. I still have a ways to go before it's finished. Ha, it's taken a whole lot of poking to get this far. I think it's taking shape nicely.

Meet Buster

Here is my middle boy, Buster, at 4.5 years old. He is one smart cookie and counter surfer extraordinare. He loves to go on walks and search for tree rats(squirrels) kitties, and small dogs..He loves to fence fight too. His prey drive is so high that we don't take him to off leash dog parks as he likes to chase down small dogs..He loves standing in front of the wood stove to stay warm. He also like hanging with his other two buds, Skeezix and Nearly.

Meet Skeezix

Here is my dear sweet Skeezix. He turned 13 this past Sept. He might be old but he can still run and chase kitties and squirrelies with the youngsters. Often when we are out walking he is the first to see that darn squirrel or kittie. He loves treats, squeaking his toys and hangin' on the couch with his buddies Nearly and Buster.
